Landlords, Are You Ready for a Fire Emergency?
5/24/2018 (Permalink)
If one of Your properties suffers a fire or serious water damage here’s what often happens: Your first awareness may be from the tenant, or perhaps a property manager.
(This is not necessarily a bad thing… but its unexpected bad news.) The early information about the event is usually not very accurate.
(There are many reasons for this.)
Several Fire Chasers may be on sight, and some will be pressuring your occupant for the Restoration Job. (It is always best if you select the right company to fix the damage.)
Here’s What Happens to You: It is perfectly normal to be worried, to imagine the worst. (It’s human nature because this is a shocking event.)
You will contact your insurance company.(They may not respond quickly. They may not provide all the information you need to move forward in a timely manner.)
You will have a whole bunch of choices to make. (Unless you have been through a fire or large water damage before, it’s confusing.)
We Invite You to Be Prepared!
SERVPRO of Stockton provides free disaster preparedness advice for income property owners. We’re also approved vendors for many major insurance companies. We would be glad to visit with you at your office or property, or you’re welcome to visit us at our cleaning and restoration facility. At the very least let’s chat for a few minutes by phone.
Being prepared to deal with a water or fire occurrence before it happens provides you peace of mind. Knowing how to work with your insurance company is invaluable. Having an experienced and ethical emergency vendor in place takes the burden off your shoulders. There’s no charge for doing this, other than a few minutes of your time. For several of my customers, this has been time well spent.
