After an Incident with Fire Damage in Stockton, We Help Customers Reclaim Their Soot-Covered Heirloom Items
Carefully handling your great-grandmother's delicate figurines that she handed down to you keeps them in the same condition. All of your efforts can become fruitless when a fire happens inside your Stockton residence. The heat can cause hairline fractures in antique pieces, and the soot now covering each one runs the risk of leaving permanent stains. SERVPRO technicians know how to help restore such items and many others.
When a home in Stockton sustains fire damage, our ability to restore the contents helps restore people's lives. We take soiled belongings to the SERVPRO facility after carefully inventorying each item and packing all of them into freshly opened boxes. Each inventory sheet follows the items through the process, from packing them up at your home to unpacking to when we unpack them once we return them to your house.
When hairline cracks appear, the tiny space that opens up can become saturated with soot, and most methods cannot clean this area. Instead of leaving any items with tell-tale lines that detract from the article, we have another option. Ultrasonic baths can remove soot and other substances from the surfaces, including grooves and tiny hairlines. Frilly, ruffled dresses on figurines of Victorian age women or older versions of cartoon characters can seem like new once we remove them from the ultrasonic bath.
Once dry, we start the deodorization process. We often use the same chamber that held them as they dried, as we prefer to subject them to as little handling as possible. To deodorize these items, we use either a hydroxyl generator or one that produces ozone. With dry inanimate objects, both of these are equally effective.
After we finish with the elimination of any remnant odors, we again use our inventory sheet and make a note of any defects on each item as we pack them back into new boxes. Many times, even the short time soot-covered things spend inside a new carton can leave it smelling like smoke and fire damage. To prevent those odors from affecting the work we just finished, we usually use completely new boxes to bring these same items back to you.
Although heirloom items do not receive daily use, having them restored and returned to you helps restore a link to your family's history, and by doing so, preserve it for your children, also. SERVPRO of Stockton wants to help make this happen for your family. Call us at (209) 477-3090, so we can discuss this and other ways we can help you recover from fire damage.
